This morning, in the street

Traducir

An elderly man leaning on his cane, and walking very slowly, half-limping, comes across an older woman who has no problems walking.
- "Good morning, Carmen" he says politely
- "How are you doing?"* she asks
- "Well...as far as 'walking' is concerned, not too good, but I´m fine" he answers with humor
- "Yes, it´s the same for everyone" she says sighing
- "No, I¨M OK; what happens is that my walking is not good" he insists, smiling
- "That´s life!" she says with a sigh of total resignation.
And both say goodbye (of course!)

This is not a joke, it is often our everyday reality. We are so often immersed in our own conditioning that we do not hear, don´t see, do not understand or do not perceive anything that does not match with our preconcieved idea of what reality has to be.
What is worse is that we then complain of loneliness, of misunderstanding, of anything, but of course we do not change our way of seeing the world, and of course the world does not change for us.
* Playing with words: in Spanish we say "How are you walking?" (¿como andas?) meaning "how are you doing?".
